birds and the bees




As I dig for wild orchids in the autumn fields, it is the deeply-bedded root that I desire, not the flower~ Izumi Shikibu

A flicker of orange. I would have missed her because she was clinging to the rail, almost invisible and closed up like a fan. Then with a sweeping gesture of her wings she revealed the herself to me.  For months the passion flower vines played host to these floating ladies. There were three cocoons in the cage. She was the last to spread her wings. Too camera shy to  pose for a picture.
